Today’s post is a special one so that my neighbors and I can invite anyone in the Upstate area to the first annual Hampton Heights’ Porchfest on September 15th. Everyone’s invited to this free and fun event!!
Well, I’m so glad you asked.
Porchfests are annual music events held across the US and in Canada on front porches where communities get together to enjoy music and one another’s company. Several historic neighborhoods participate and this year the HHNA leadership team decided it was time for Hampton Heights to join in on the fun.
When: Sunday, September 15th – Roads open at 12:30pm / Music is from 1-5:30pm
Where: Hampton Heights Historic Neighborhood in Spartanburg, SC.
Cost: FREE!!!! But if you want something to eat or drink, bring a little spending money.
What To Bring: You, your friends and family, a chair to sit in, and a little money if you want something to eat or drink from the trucks that will be there.
They have 12 bands lined up to play at 6 different porches at different times during the day. And there’s a wide variety so something for everyone! You can learn more details about which bands are coming on the website or follow along on Instagram where they’ve been sharing a lot about each band. And give them a follow while you’re there!
Six of Hampton Heights’ beautiful historic homes are hosting and if you’ve been around for a while, you might recognize a few of the houses we’ve had the privilege of working on. Here’s a quick look at the porch line-up and a couple of houses close by that are not on the line up that you might recognize too!
At the start of West Hampton you’ll find the first two houses and if you look across the street from house #1 and to the right of #2, you’ll recognize a familiar house – The Dowds Domain.
Houses #3 and #4 you’re sure to recognize – Martha’s Manor (#3) and The Hammond Home (#4).
And on the west end of the street you’ll find the last two hosting houses. While you may not recognize the front porch of house #5, you’ll definitely remember this Screened Porch Addition.
And while I’ve never had the privilege of working on house #6, she has impacted much of what you’ve learned from me. Vivian is the neighborhood historian who wrote the book about our neighborhood. I quote it often when sharing some of the houses we get to work on. Their Victorian house is also considered the crown jewel of Hampton Heights.
And I’d be remiss if I didn’t tell you to be sure and look across the street from house #6 and look for the Queen Anne. While not hosting this year, you can admire this beautiful historic home from the street.
Now that you know all about the event, I hope you’ll make plans to come. Join me and my neighbors for a fun afternoon at the first annual Porchfest!! Hope you can make it!!!!
P. S. Here are answers to the rest of the questions you might have.
