This beautiful colonial revival style home was built in 1917 and we worked with the then homeowners in 2016 to renovate most of this 3,100 square foot house for their growing family.
This home had previously been owned by long-time neighbors who loved calling the house home for over 25 years. When they decided it was time to downsize, my clients had the opportunity to purchase the house and together, we worked to make it their own.
Interior Renovations:
My clients made it very clear from the beginning that budget was a top priority so we worked hard to identify which areas of the home were of the most importance in terms of renovations. Of course this meant that not every room in the house could be included in the renovation which is where my clients came in. Along with the help of family and friends, they tackled all of the wallpaper removal and painted all of the rooms not included in the work scope in beautiful jewel tones, which goes to show that a lot of hard work and sweat equity pays off!
The construction team handled the large portions of the renovation which included a revised floor plan in the back of the house. Initially we intended to keep the existing kitchen lay-out but when the laminated flooring was removed and revealed rotted wood flooring underneath resulting in all of it needing to be replaced, we had the opportunity to make some revisions to the floor plan. The end product resulted in a much more functional kitchen with exposed original brick and lots of sunlight from the original windows, a half bath, laundry room, and double glass doors leading to the back deck which lets in tons of sunlight. Upstairs we reworked the back bathroom to create a private master suite and the rest of the budget went to updating the plumbing and electrical. We circled back a couple of years later to remodel their upstairs bathroom too.
Exterior Renovations:
Since the majority of the budget was used for interior renovations, the exterior got more of a facelift. After making a few small repairs, the exterior was painted a cool shade of blue with purple undertones and they kept the front door in the original state as stained wood.
" What we've loved most about Heather is how she really listens to the homeowner."
We LOVED working with Heather, and recommend her to everyone we come across.
She'll share her thoughts and advice (which is so spot on), but really takes the time to understand your vision for the home. Heather respected our budget, and worked so hard to help us get what we wanted in our home while staying within our financial constraints.
